Today I found out who my client was and sat down with her and discussed my ideas after finding out her opinions on the images I collected.
Successes
- The client really liked the images I collected and luckily responded most to te photograph of the deer.
- I suggested that I would love to make a deer headdress for her. She loved the idea which took the project in a very positive direction.
- I asked her if she would like any additional adornments on the base of the antlers such as flowers. I was thrilled when she told me she preferred green plants and leaves to plants. I have the exact same preference.
- I then did some good research on plants that might be found specifically on the forest floor. I found pictures of ferns, heather, and other wild plants.
Could do better
- It would have been good if I had had some initial sketches ready to show her. I did not anticipate that her feedback would be so positive so I didn't want to get too ahead of myself.
- I probably should have asked her directly if there was anything specific at all she would like to be a part of the headdress.
- I should have thought about the purpose of the headdress - if I had then I could have asked her if she is more in to fashion or films, in order to decide whether it would be a prop for fashion or film.
