CATALYSTS || Uninspired

For this project we have been asked to choose one of five 'styles' of art and design and research it in depth, and then develop a three dimensional response. The challenge here is that it is our first project we will be untertaking entirely on our own; we have the Christmas holidays to complete it.

I began today by briefly researching each of the styles. They are: Conceptual

Abstract

Modernism

Digital

To begin with, my research did not go well. If I am honest, I felt uninspired by all of them. There were things I liked, but they were not the kind of things I like to create. Whilst researching modernism, however, I came across post-modernism. I had a totally different reaction to everything I was looking at. It excited me, so I decided I would have to look at post-modernism instead. It was Memphis Milano that particularly jumped out at me. I am in love with the bright colours, unusual shapes and the overall rejection of all modernism's rules and values.
