Selfie Booth || Brainstorming

This week is all about the ever-growing trend of taking 'selfies'. We began by brainstorming why selfies are taken, what's good about them, and what's bad about them. Once we got going on it we had lots of ideas, but at first my partner and I were a little hesitant. I think that was because it was quite a self-confessing task that required us to be honest about vanity and criticise ourselves!

We then discovered that this week's ultimate goal is to come up with a new idea for - and potentially build - a selfie booth. With this knowledge we began brainstorming photo booths and what different themes, ideas, and mechanisms we could explore. We had good thoughts about uses and where selfie booths might be used. We also came up with some interesting new ideas. We thought about the idea of possibly updating the party and events photo booth by adding the ability to create selfie videos and GIFs.

Thinking in detail about target markets, we chose to make our booth for young adults with young children. We established what kind of needs this kind of family would have and their lifestyle to get a better idea of what would appeal to them and entice them to use our selfie booth. We also estabished a location fr our booths. We have chosen Chessington World of Adventures as the theme park is divided into different themed areas that we could incorporate into our booth designs and photo props etc. Our target market are the main visitors to the park.

Our research would have been more effective had we carried out a survey with young families, to see what they think of our ideas. We also need to think in more detail about what form our booths will take and things like costs and photographic technology specifics.
